The Oldham coupling is ideal for precisely timed positioning and stepper motor applications. It consists of two aluminium hubs and a transmission disc made of acetal. This three-part structure allows for easy plug-in assembly also in difficult installation conditions.
Their strength is radial displacement compensation. This compensation is carried out through pure translational movements between the hub and the transmission disc. For this purpose, the hubs are fitted backlash-free fitted into the grooves of the transmission disc acting as plain bearing. Due to the good sliding properties of the acetal material of the transmission disc, the radial restoring forces and thus the bearing loads are low. The Oldham coupling is also electrically insulating, has a low moment of inertia and has a highly compact design. The aluminium hubs of the MOCT and MOST versions are additionally balanced.
For even tighter installation conditions, the product range includes ZOC and ZOS compact versions. The hubs have a special "micro rounding" design for additionally increased angular displacement capacity.
For special environmental conditions, couplings with stainless steel hubs are optionally available. In addition, the Oldham couplings can also be equipped with transmission disc made of PEEK (ideal for applications under vacuum conditions) or Vespel (for high temperature conditions).
