The Crossflex coupling has the ability to withstand axial forces. It is ideal for applications with additional slight tensile and compressive forces. The Crossflex kinematically combines the properties of an Oldham coupling with those of a universal joint. It consists of two aluminium hubs and a centrally arranged, stainless steel inner ring. In this inner ring there are steel spigots arranged at a 90-degree angle to each other.
Similar to a cross joint, this middle section can perform a simultaneously pivotal and linear movement in plain bearings. To further optimise friction values and sliding properties, steel spigots are also nickel-coated.
Nickel-coated spigots and plain bearings are combined and adapted in such a way that restoring forces and backlash are minimised.
The aluminium hubs - featuring either a clamping hub or set screw design - are also anodised for increased corrosion protection.
